Common questions

How do I log a day?

On the Days tab, tap the big yellow Log a day button. Tap every day you worked, add what you did, then Save. Use Add another task this day if you did different jobs in one day.

How do I send an invoice?

Under Current, tap the Invoice button, check the number and dates, then tap Create and send. If Mail is set up it opens with the PDF attached. If not, the share sheet appears so you can send it another way.

Where are my invoices kept?

Every invoice is saved as a PDF in the Files app under On My iPhone (or On My iPad), DayRate, Invoices. You can also open them from the Invoices tab, where Print and Save to Files let you print one or save a copy to iCloud Drive or another folder.

How do I add my signature?

Go to Profile and scroll to Signature. Choose Sign full screen and turn your phone on its side, or Import a photo or file to use a picture of your signature on white paper.

How do I add my logo or change the colour?

In Profile, choose Add your logo and pick a photo or file; a PNG with a see-through background looks best. Under Invoice colour pick Blackout, Nightshift, Greenroom or Hardcopy (light grey, kind to printers). With no logo, your initials are used.

How do I lock the app?

In Profile, under Security, turn on Lock DayRate. It then asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode each time you open the app. Your device needs a passcode set in iOS Settings first.

What is the Made with DayRate footer?

A small line and QR code at the end of each invoice that opens DayRate on the App Store. It is part of the free app.

Does DayRate work out RCT or tax?

No. DayRate does not calculate, deduct or file any tax, and it does not support RCT deductions yet. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice. You are responsible for what is on your invoices and for your own tax and records. Ask your accountant or Revenue if you are unsure.

Can I try it without entering my details?

Yes. On the Welcome screen tap Try with sample data. Everything is made up and sample invoices are marked SAMPLE. Remove it with one tap from the banner on the Days tab.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. On iPad your invoice list sits beside a full-size preview of each PDF.

Can I use it on another phone?

DayRate keeps everything on one phone and has no account. If you change phone, restore from a backup, and keep your invoice PDFs safe in Files or by emailing them to yourself.
